Guarantors

A guarantor is a person who is in a position to pay the tenant's rent should for some reason you become unable to do so.

HEL understands this is a sensitive area particularly for the guarantor but is has to be understood that the guarantor is saying they are able and willing to pay the rent in the event the tenant cannot. This guarantee is for the duration of the tenancy (including the time beyond the original period stated in the tenancy agreement) and cannot be unilaterally or arbitrarily stopped. And so ...

... the financial status of the guarantor will be investigated to ensure they are able to pay your rent to HEL as well as their own outgoings. When you, as tenant, have been asked to provide a guarantor that guarantor will be asked to provide evidence of the ability to pay by: -

  1. Proof of earnings along with proof of rent payment or mortgage payment and/or
  2. Proof of building society or other savings
